Cerambycidae
(Escarabajos de cuernos largos)
La familia Cerambycidae, también conocida como escarabajos de cuernos largos, es un grupo muy diverso de escarabajos caracterizados por sus cuerpos largos y esbeltos y sus antenas especialmente largas. A menudo, las antenas son tan largas o incluso más que el propio cuerpo del escarabajo. Esta familia incluye más de 35 000 especies, que se encuentran en todo el mundo excepto en la Antártida.

No es de extrañar que los escarabajos carpinteros presenten una gran variedad de colores y diseños. Algunos individuos son relativamente discretos, mientras que otros tienen colores llamativos y contrastados que sirven de advertencia a los depredadores. Algunas especies incluso imitan el aspecto de otros escarabajos peligrosos o venenosos, lo que les protege de los depredadores.
Los Cerambycidae se encuentran en una gran variedad de entornos, desde selvas tropicales hasta bosques templados y sabanas. Su presencia suele ser un indicador de un ecosistema sano, ya que sus larvas desempeñan un papel importante en el reciclaje de nutrientes y la descomposición de la madera muerta.Aunque los escarabajos carpinteros no son una amenaza directa para el ser humano, algunas especies pueden causar daños en estructuras de madera o árboles.
